Overview

The International Women Club of Bern (IWCB) is a non-profit, non-religious and non-political social club run by volunteer members for members. Our mission is to connect women over the whole of Switzerland by using our platform as a springboard to find other women who share the same interests, or hobbies. We take your data privacy very seriously!

Collection, use and disclosure of personal information

The IWCB will ONLY use your email address (and/or telephone number) to stay in touch with you to provide you with details of upcoming activities, newsletters and information the team deems relevant to share with you. The IWCB will treat your Information with the utmost care and respect.

After you click on " join us", we will request you to provide and confirm the following information:

 Compulsory personal details for membership

  • Name
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Phone number

Your membership application cannot be processed without the above information.

When you register for an event, that is organised and hosted by the IWCB we may request that you provide or confirm your personal details. Please note that our activities depend on being able to reach you via your personal details. If you decide to deny access to your contact details or forget to update your personal details the IWCB will not be able to communicate with you and we may suspend your membership.

This information is to allow the IWCB and its members to learn more about you.

You have the right to access and update your personal details and restrict the processing of your personal data for specific purposes. You have the right to request that the IWCB delete your personal information, however this might affect your membership.

Availability of your personal data to members of the IWCB

When you join the IWCB your personal data is visible to other members of the IWCB through our Wild Apricot Database and apps. You have the right and ability to set restriction on the parts of your data you do not wish members to access. Restriction can be set on your profile (please read the section “members commitment to the IWCB Privacy Policy”).

Third-parties applications

The use by third parties of all published contact details for advertising or marketing purposes is expressly excluded. We reserve the right to take legal steps in the case of the unsolicited sending of advertising information; e.g, by means of spam mail.

The IWCB would like to expressly point out that the transmission of data via the internet (e.g. by email) can offer security vulnerabilities. It is therefore impossible to safeguard the data completely against access by third parties. We cannot assume any liability for damages arising as a result of such security vulnerabilities.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that a website transfers to your computer to record specific information about your session while you are connected to a website. This does not represent any analysis of personal data (e.g. name, address or e-mail address). . No other website can request this information.

There are two types of cookies: session cookies and persistent cookies.

  1. Session cookies records your acces of our website (date, time, page accessed) and last only as long as your web browser is open. Once you close your browser, the cookie is deleted.
  2. Persisten cookies are saved on user’s device in order to determine which users are new to the site or are returning users.

A visit to our website can result in the storage of both session and persisten cookies on our server (WildApricot). If you wish, you can block the storage of cookies in your browsers.

Consent

Giving Consent means you agree that the IWCB collect the data you provide us that enable us to process your membership application. Failure to give consent will stop the registration process.

Members commitment to IWCB privacy policy

All members are committed to the IWCB Privacy Policy not to share or past on personal details of a member to third-parties or post or store photos of members on any social network (e.g. Facebook, WhatsApp, MyCloud. etc.) or use members personal details or photos for advertisement or marketing purposes without the explicit permission of the member(s) concerned.

Policy Changes

Please note that this Privacy Policy may be reviewed and revised from time to time. We will inform you of any changes via email, and my ask for your consent to any major changes.

Disclaimer

The IWCB website contains links to websites of third parties ("external links"). In the course of the IWCB activities, we may request that you buy tickets or make reservations on third party sites. These links are provided for your information and convenience only and are not under the control of the IWCB. If you use these links, you leave our Website. All members agree, by assessing the site of IWCB and uses of any links on our website is at their own risk and their own responsibility.

At the time of placing the link on the website of IWCB, there was no infringement of the law known to IWCB. If any infringement of the law becomes known to the IWCB, we will immediately remove the link in question from our website. The IWCB cannot assume any reliability for the contents of external websites and privacy policy. In all cases, the provider of information of the linked websites is liable for the content and accuracy of the information provided and privacy policy. All members are advised to read the privacy policy of external sites before disclosing any personal details.
